One key aspect of keeping your community secure is ensuring potential scammers and malicious users don’t find their way into it or gain direct access to your community members. This means having a higher level of control over who is allowed in and what newer members can do. 

Having control over your invite links is one way of preventing random users from finding their way into your community. Instead of utilizing a general invite link, creating a custom invite link allows you to track new members better. It will enable you to identify which invite link has been compromised. Every new member who joins has their IP address logged in the community’s audit log, so you’ll be able to detect and deal with suspicious new members. Any invite link that seems to be bringing malicious users en-masse can be quickly deleted. 

Additionally, Returning.AI allows you to control permissions for each role, preventing misconduct from new members with malicious intent. For example, turning off the ability to direct message others on lower-level roles, such as @all, will prevent new users with the purpose of scamming or poaching from sending malicious direct messages to your community members.
